¼ Diskmag Reviews
½ ===============
³
Here we will try to be objective and
review some other diskmags on the
scene.
²Our Categories are...
¢Intro¹ - How good the introduction is.
It is better with a nice picture than
a long boring bad designed intro.
¢Code ¹- How good and smooth the code is
and most important of all, the
userfriendliness!
¢Design ¹- The impression you get when
just look at screen. The menugraphics
and choice of color.
¢Music ¹- If you can listen to the music
while reading or not..
¢Contents ¹- The most important in the
mag. How good are the articles, etc!
¢Overall ¹- The total Impression of the
mag. What we think of it. Advices if
any...
²Reviews in this Issue:

³ Eternal #2 ¹by² Miracle
³ Jungle #4 ¹by² Damian
³ Raw #6 ¹by² Spaceballs
³ Scene Talk #5 ¹by² Mystic
³ Upstream #7 ¹by² Balance
¶¢GENERATION #13
¼Intro:¹ well, There is no intro in
this mag so simply nothing to judge
then...
¼Code:¹ Well, nothing to complain
about. All works as it should even
though it feels like there should be
something more..
¼Design:¹ Dark colours and badly drawn
menu graphics can only make a bad
design. Actually its really bad. I
think they should have it totally
redesigned. Some more colours
shouldnt do any harm either..
¼Music:¹ Its a quite nice tune that
fits the mag. But I couldn't
remember anything of it when I
rebooted. Quite good but nothing
more. You can do better Michael!
¼Contents:¹ This is a mag and not a
mag. If you understand what I try to
say. They have no articles, its
simply a message / news / advert /
chart-mag. But all included is of a
high quality. They have lot of
support for the mag and that is
great!
¼Overall:¹ Ehh... Its not a standard
mag, but it fulfills its ambitions
and it has not got any huge delays.
Its the BEST message/news/chart mag
on the scene right now... And its
really great that it comes out often!
¶¢ETERNAL #2
¼Intro:¹ Just a loading picture but of
a very high quality! Kris shows that
he is not only a main editor but also
a GREAT graphician.
¼Code:¹ They have the best code that I
have seen in any diskmag. It has
simply everything and its really
fast! Kris is also a great coder!
¼Design:¹ If you are into darkcolor
design and the normal school this is
state of the art. Its extremely
nice. It gives and extremely nice
impression and its really great
graphics.
¼Music:¹ A diskmag tune of
WOTW/Essence that is actually really
great! It suits the mag very good
and helps a lot in building the
Eternal-Atmosphere.
¼Contents:¹ LOT of articles, and even
if some is not topclass, you can't
point on an article that is bad. But
too average, its the only bad thing
in this otherwise great mag.
¼Overall:¹ Yes! The Mag of the Autumn
93. This issue is simply great! The
chart is good, the design is good,
the articles are good and the support
is good. They have a very bright
future! In my eyes is this a diskmag
that belong on the top 3!
¶¢JUNGLE #4
¼Intro:¹ Its just a picture of a
goatheadedman playing a panpipe,
perhaps its Pan himself? But the
picture is quite average but NOT
bad..
¼Code:¹ Yes! Multitasking and system
friendly! Harddisk installable! And
it has never bugged on my Amiga. The
only minus is the speed! Its
terrible slow in printing each page
on the screen...
¼Design:¹ The design is both great and
lowquality! I mean, the menupage is
really great designed but the design
of the articles are pretty
low-quality...
¼Music:¹ Average! Its not bad but I
cant say that I liked it either..
¼Contents:¹ Not much articles but most
of them are of a very high quality!
The poem about nazism is really
great! But the charts should perhaps
be removed, they have simply to less
voters, only 16! At least 100 voters
is neccessary for a good chart.
¼Overall:¹ This mag is a survivor and
will for sure be among the top mags.
If they change the few things I have
mentioned they could even compete
against RAW and Upstream!
¶¢RAW #6
¼Intro:¹ Hmm... Three quality title
pictures from known artists and
nothing else... A bit boring but
nicelooking.
¼Code:¹ Its a really great code that
handles almost all things a diskmag
code should handle and its really
fast too. Nothing to complain about
here, No(r)way!
¼Design:¹ This is the State of the Art
when it comes to design since so many
others have copied their style. Its
really nice!
¼Music:¹ Weehow, I loved the tune from
Lizard/Lemon.(?) it gave the special
Raw-atmosphere.
¼Contents:¹ Only scene-related
articles but LOT of them and they are
mostly great. They have most of the
best writers writing for them so what
can you expect.
¼Overall:¹ This is the SCENE mag right
now, only if they could stop their
delays... Because people begin to
think that other mags are better
because RAW is not released regularly
and then they will begin their slide
down the charts...
¶¢SCENE TALK #5
¼Intro:¹ What should we say? Its only
an average picture during the loading
but its much better than a lame
intro. Nothing to complain about!
¼Code:¹ It works as it should and its
actually good, although I feel it
confusing to use cursor up to go to
the next article instead of cursor
down.... Anyway nice work!
¼Design:¹ ehh... the menupanels are
quite good but the fonts (uaaaargh!)
and the layout are bad! And its
really hard reading a text when the
letters are some kind of tech
designed and in uppercase. Try to
change it...
¼Music:¹ I cant explain why but I love
this tune, I cant remember it
afterwards but when I am listening to
it I always love it! Keep up the
good work!
¼Contents:¹ Not many articles and some
are just onepage articles but some
are really good. One minor drawback
is the charts that are somewhat
really strange. Mostly voted for by
unknwon dudes and almost no known
swappers. Infact I have never seen a
votesheet for Scene Talk before and I
have seen 1000 different votesheets.
They should perhaps spread more
votesheets.
¶¼Overall:¹ This was the first
production I had seen from Mystic a
quite unknown group in the scene but
if they improve the mag they could
become something cool. Anyway the
mag is a little bit above average and
1000 times better than Suicid!
¢UPSTREAM #7
¼Intro:¹ Just a nice little picture by
Chagall that I liked a lot...
¼Code:¹ Nothing to complain about
here, it works as it should and the
"search-bug" has been fixed. The
fastest advanced routine right now..
¼Design:¹ Ugly colors as always but
they suit each other. And the
articles are very well formatted!
¼Music:¹ I love this tune by
Subjekt/Balance. In fact its one of
the few tunes I play while reading a
mag. I mostly turn of the volume
after a minute or two but this one I
had playing for the whole hour I
spent reading the mag. GREAT job!
¼Contents:¹ They have the best
articles and the biggest amount of
them too..
¼Overall:¹ I have said it before and I
will say it again. Upstream will be
before Raw in the charts VERY soon,
if they continue like this...
